Tourists are back again to look at our sites.


This is an example of a right wing caption, and you can see from
when you look at this that yoou dont fully understand the story and 
in your mind, makes you think, oh well there are alot of tourists now,
and the right wing dont like new people, e.g. tourists and would there
fore put a caption like this.

This is an example of a left wing caption. This caption doesn't make 

you feel angry or against them, it simply makes you possibly remeber 

good time and makes you think, possibly well they're just teenagers.

And with captions like these, it doesn't put you against the person/people

within the photos, nd therefore would prove to be a left wing caption.

As you can see, whatever the caption underneath a picture says can change the view of the person looking at the picture and can make you biased towards the Left or Right wing parties.

Left Wing or Right Wing headlines.

    The Left wing are people who favour the working class, social equality, peace and high taxes. They are looking for the world to be better and equal all round, Ed Milliband is on the left wing. The Right wing are people who favour the wealthy/upperclass, survival of the fittest, war and lower taxes. David Cameron is a member of the right wing.
    People like Hitler, Margaret Thatcher and George Bush were on the right side, only wanting rich people and english people in the country, whereas poeple like Obama, Che Guvera and Ghandi were pople supporting the left.

    The image above is an example of a newspaper headline from the Right Wing. As well as it is a Telegraph and that is more of Right Winged newspaper, the title, "How our heritage is going up in smoke" gives many clues of how it is biased to the Right. For one, in the title it says 'our' and this involving the readers and as it is the Right Wing, they will try and get the readers on there side. With the image as well showing the main building going up in smoke. This changes the readers attitude towards the Left and right side because in a way its making you think people are against them trying to set them on fire and this makes you feel bad almost and pulls you to their side.

    I feel that this is a good example of an article from the Left Wing. Firstly, the title, "Cameron wages war on gangs", it is putting down David Cameron who is the leader or the right wing, and the right would not do that to make their own side look bad, as  well as the fact that they are making the readers think that the gangs are being targeted. Not only does the title show signs on going against the right but the Evening Stanadard is a newspaper more towards the left. The eft are putting across the point that the right side are very biased toward their own kind, e.g. the rich and the upper class, and with the left showing this, they are getting more poeple on their side with this article title.

What is all the fuss about Phone Hacking?

- What is phone hacking?

Phone hacking is the term used to describe the practise of intercepting a telephone call, or message or voicemail, without the owners consent.

It is done when a phone has been given a default PIN. If the owner does not change this, and if the hacker knows the number and the PIN, he/she can access the owners details. As well as hacking messages and voice mails, phone hacking can include caller ID which entitles the hacker to pretend the call is coming from another number, during the mid 2000s, it was discovered that this would allow unauthorised access to the voicemail on some mobile phone networks.

 - Why does the newspaper industry use phone hacking?

Newspapers use phone hacking to give out information, e.g. drug use, divorce, affairs, about celebrities and find sometimes fake information on people to get more readers. News of the World is a good example of this as they, being the Sunday sister of The Sun, had spread out scoops such as, sex scandles, drug abusers... and because of this, it was given the nickname of "Screws of the world". (The image below is the first issue of The New of the World).

- What has the impact been on the Newspaper industry, especially The News of the World?

Since newspapers started using phone hacking to get stories, it has made the newspaper industry look really bad. The News of the World, has been banned because of its overuse of phone hacking. The image below is the front cover of its last issue.

Because of the News of the Worlds biggest and most upsetting story, the paper has been banned. The story of Milly Dowler, a girl who was murdered, and the News of th World had hacked her phone deleting voice mails, which led her parents to believe she was stil alive.

- Who are the main victims of phone hacking and how has it affected them?

The parents, family and friends of murdered teenager Milly Dowler were most affected, and the parents of murdered Soham schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman were allegedly targeted. Sara Payne, whose Sarah's Law campaign for better child protection regulations was championed by the NoW (New of the World) after her 8 year old daughter was murdered in 2000, has been told her details may have been held by Glenn Mulcaire. Relatives of dead UK soldiers and relatives of 7/7 victims say they may also have had their phones hacked. The parents were led to believe that their children may have still been alive, as well as the relatives of the dead soldiers.

- The phone hacking scandal.

In 2006, the newspaper has used private investigators to illegaly gain access to hundreds of mobile phone voicemail accounts held by a variety of people of interest to the newspaper. In 2007, the papers royal correspondant, Clive Goodman,pleaded guilty to illegal interception of personal communication and was jailed for four months., the papers editor, Andy Coulson, had resigned two weeks earlier.

- What is Newscorp?

News Corporation or News Corp is the worlds second largest media conglomerate as off 2011 in terms of revenue and third largest in terms of entertainment. The scandal has effected them as they have shut down the News of the World and they have been partly blamed for most of the worlds phone hacking scandals.

Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson were part of the News of the World group, both being editors. Rebekah had said thet the government had made the "sacndal" to seem worse than it was, and Andy, resigning before he could get main blame. Now Rebekah has been made down as chief of News International.

- What has the government done about phone hacking?

Not only canceling the News of the World nespaper, the Prime Minister has announced two inquiries and said the Press Complaints Commission should be scrapped. Lord Justice Leveson is conducting a two-part inquiry, initially looking at "the culture, practices and ethics" of the UK media and its relationships with police and politicians. It will later examine the extent of unlawful conduct within newspaper groups and the police's original phone-hacking investigation. Former Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards Elizabeth Filkin is also to examine the relationship between the media and police. The government, and the previous Labour administration, had been accused of being slow to react to the scandal.

Continuity Editing - Evaluation

    For this project we had to make a continuity video, where we had o film from different angles, someone walking through a door, then two people having a short conversation. Shriya and I decided to film someone walking through a gate in a park and having an argument with someone. 
    In the video I had to keep to the 180 degree rule, the rule of thirds and match on action. The 180 degree rule was to keep the camera o the same side of the two people we were filming. I did this by keeping Ola on the right side of the screen during the over the shoulder scene, and I kept the rule of thirds during the close up of Shriya on the phone and Ola threatening her. (180 degree rule; image below)

    The image above is of the rule of thirds, as you can see, Shriya's eyes are on the imaginary top line. 
    There were some problems when we filmed, for example, we couldn't get the angles right when Ola knelt over Shriya. But we filmed the same scene over and over again to make sure we had enough clips to choose from. If we could make changes, I would re film a lot more of the scenes as on some we only had one and therefore had no choice.
    During the post production, I didn't find it hard, besides cutting the scenes to make it flow and not look like it was filmed separately. However, if I could change anything, I would choose a different sound track, and maybe make more of a build up to the end, as well as adding more transitions to make the video a bit longer.
    I feel that the strengths of my work were my editing skills. I feel that I worked best when I edited my work. 

    This is an example of my slide transition, it slides to the right to show time has past. It also slide in the way she is walking. I also added fades in and out at the start and end of the video, and also added fade ins and outs on the sound. I feel the editing was my strong point as I like playing around and seeing what looks good. 
    I feel that my weaknesses were the filming, as I don't feel we filmed enough shot.

    From this shot toy can see he jumps out in an awkward angle from the bush, and we only filmed this scene once. 

    Overall I feel that this was a task that I found quite interesting. It gave me a chance to work with the cameras again and try out more of the camera shots and angles. However, as I said there were alot of things I would redo, e.g. re shooting alot of the scenes to make sure there was a large range to shoot from, but as a final product I feel I stuck to all the rules and it was a good end video.
