weekly blog post - WEEK TWO

This week we simply finished off all of the work we had to do. This included getting everything signed in order for us to film in the locations we planned onm filming in, Taking location pics to test how they would look when we actually film > as you can see in the picture to the right of the page. We also planned, worte up and finished our shooting script for the music video. This shooting script involves the shot number, the location the shot would be in, the shot type we wopuld be using, the shot angle, and the movement of the camera also. We also had to right down what lyrics of the song the shot would go to, a breif description of what would be involved in the shot, the people in the shot and what props we would use.

To the left opf the screen is only a small piece of mine and Morgans shooting script. There was a minimum number of shots we has to have, 100.. all of our shots together made 115 so were safe.

This week we also carried out a risk assesment, making sure that we knew the risks and how to overcome them in each location we would be filming in.

Production Log - WEEK ONE

We had to choose who we were going to work with, I chose to work with Morgan Bolton.
We decided what song we would use and we chose Morgan's song, mainly because she has had permission to use it. We both decided to use a mixture of both ideas in the video, but with most of Morgans as it fits with the song. We had thought over the ideas, swapped numbers and made a video post of what we were going to do, the problems we would face and why, and how we would plan out or filming times.

We created a video rationale for our final idea, with just me and Morgan in the shot. In this video we explained what song were using, what ideas would be put up into the video and why we chose this idea. We also spoke about what strengths and weaknesses we would encounter during the production of our video.

We didn't do much this week as we had just finished watching the pitches.

Pitch Reflection

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on?

There is not much more information that I would add, I feel I gave all the information about my idea that I could give and that my idea wasn't much more creative than most of them, so it would be easily understood.  I feel that my idea was quite simple in terms of narrative and performance so the audience could relate to it well and I feel that all my ideas were very clear and I explained them well. I wasn't nervous during the presentation and I feel I tried as hard as I could to give the ideas I had about my video to the audience. All of my ideas were said aswell as some given by some of the class.

What did your audience identify as the strengths of your music video idea?

The audience mentioned the strengths of my video idea as how I planned it all out, what parts of the song would have which part of the video idea according to the lyrics. I feel that I made it clear to the audience all of my main ideas about the performance and the narrative and the audience has worked well with it and thought that the idea of the video, the mood of the song and the narrative work well with the lyrics and the song. Also the audience gave feedback of the idea of interpretative ideas was good and would work well.

What did your audience identify as areas for improvement?

My audience said that the area for improvements would be to aim my ideas at specific moments in the song and to make sure i new what would fill the gaps between the narrative an performance parts of the video. Also hinting to make sure that the colours of costume and the mood of the song link. I feel that I could of made most of my ideas stronger as some people didn't quite understand.

What changes would you make to your music video concept based on the feedback you received?

I don't feel that I'd make a lot of changes to my idea as most of the feedback was positive, but I would change, however, the cast and some of the costumes to make it look more soul and motown like. I think I would take in the idea of making parts of the video look more Amy Winehouse like, having black and white moments, like an old movie video effect, I liked this idea as it suits the song and the mood of it and I feel that it would work well with the narrative sides, almost as if the artost is having a flashback.

Pitch Feedback

This is the feedback I got for my ideas. Overall I feel I got good feedback. Presenting the pitch wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I feel I presented it well so people could understand what my idea was, and understand more about the artist. I feel that my choice of song was good as most people liked it and thought it would be easy to add ideas to. The constructive critisism I got was to nail down where I would put each part of the story and how I would put them into order. I feel that I gave the best I could put into it and from the feedback, the video that comes out of it would be easily understandable and be a good outcome to the song.

This is my pitch.

My Artist

                            1 Frances Lobo
                                                           From Leamington, United Kingdom
                                      She is about 19
                                                     She is an unsigned artist

She has her own look.. as she says.
"" My styles are hard to pin down,  as i love all sorts of music, my voice draws resonance to many different styles. I love blues, soul and motown music, but I also love pop and rock. The ultimate influences that make my style are, Amy Winehouse, Freddy Mercury, Janis Joplin, and Joss Stone. ""
On the unsigned page, she explains how she has been singing from a very young age and how she plays the drums and keyboards. She goes on to explain how she has been studying Theatre and Performance and the University of Warwick. She travels up and down to her hometown, London, to record music with a pair of excellent producers Hank and Jim. She wants to pursue he dream of becoming a successful pop artist.

From my point of view, i see a 1 Frances Lobo music video to involve these;

- Colours -

REDS      BLACKS         WHITES         PURPLES         BROWNS          TEALS

- Clothing -

- Imagery -

- Typography -

- Mise-en-scene -

For the person playing my artist is Sarah Smith.

I have chosen to use Sarah as the idea of 1FrancesLobo, was due to the fact that she suits the voice and from his photo, looks like she has that soul, motown thing.

""I have been so very lucky and fortunate to have been put into the wonderful hands of Hank Hughes from Townhouse Studios, home to Robbie Williams, Pharell Williams, Beyonce and Coldplay to name but a few It is here that I have just finished  recording my demo CD, and begun my career fulfilling my dream."" - 1FrancesLobo
